Speech Topics

  • Tablet to Tablet Communication

As communication needs diversified, communication methods improved. As our lives have improved and changed, so to have our expectations of communication and also our perspectives on communication begun to differ. We are used to seeing and living our lives in a specific way, so going beyond the ordinary is tough but inevitable. It is important to remember that none of the studies produced specially for an individual or a corporation can be entirely valid for any other.

• Content Production and Management

Until quite recently, we focused almost solely on communication. However, communication cannot happen without content. The world we live in today is a world of “networks.” We live in a world of communication, in which we ourselves are the nodes tying it together. Technically, we connect hundreds of people but mostly we can communicate as neither an individual nor a corporation. The reasons for this are diverse: content is the keystone of communication. Quality is the keystone of content. Unmanaged content cannot provide communication and without content there will not be communication.

• Media Relations Management

Media relations are one of the most valuable areas of activity for corporations. We believe that everything we say is news and journalists serve to blinker our view.  Our imagination is limited by and to several national newspapers and TV channels. Generally, we are only interested in the message we ourselves convey. We do not see what we look at; we cannot convey the things we need to say. However, some of us do communicate well.

Success Stories

Yaprak Özer filled a significant void in the market with her Success Stories TV programme. We sometimes have difficulty supplying successful concepts and sometimes we exceed our aims. Success has a different meaning for everyone. It is money for some of us, career, or love, or health for others.

Success also has different meanings for different corporations! The corporate culture of the organisation affects its definition of success. Therefore, the definition of success differs for each corporation. It could be turnover, profit, social responsibility, new partnerships, or big projects, among others.

Yaprak Özer offers something different in her speeches. She reveals examples of “best practice” for corporate and individual success. She also asks incisive questions to help her audience reflect on how they are operating. You have come to the right place if you are looking to be guided by insightful questions, both for in-house and sector meetings, as well as for public announcements.

  • Moderator

Most conferences or panels fail due to the participants not being able to communicate with each other. The success of a meeting in the eyes of the participants is based on them having either an entertaining or great learning experience. Conveying lots of information intelligibly in a limited time is generally only possible with a moderator. Thanks to her journalism and TV experience, Özer is an excellent moderator, working both in Turkish and English.

Murat
Özbilen

Management Consultant, Chairman of the Board, Güvercin Communication Services

Biography

“The key to management is the identification of the skills and competencies required to manage the business as it is and to create corporate mechanisms that will guarantee adequate representation of interests in the management structure.”

Managing family businesses

Murat Özbilen has extensive experience in project management, spanning a career of more than 20 years. He holds the Institute of Industrial Engineer’s Mitchell Fein-Outstanding Leadership and Profession Award, and Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honour Society’s Junior Researcher Award. He is currently a faculty member at Rotterdam University in the Netherlands and SRBII in Belgium. Özbilen possesses extensive experience particularly in operational improvement, auditing, the development and integration of organisational and technological systems, hand-over planning in family businesses, and strategic management projects. Özbilen has in-depth experience of the management of family businesses. According to him, unless entrepreneurs are able to convert their entrepreneurial spirit into management skills once companies are set up and a place in the market is established, their presence starts to hurt the management, which to begin with would have been a major contributor to the business. Then arises the question of whether to hand over the job to professionals. However, this does not mean a complete withdrawal on the part of the family from the management. “Family businesses are very dynamic when they are set up. The boss is, at the same time, also the manager. They fully communicate all their value judgments and opinions about the business. Once a company like this becomes established in the market, it must transform the impact of its entrepreneurial spirit into the ability to manage.”

Who is Murat Özbilen?

Murat Özbilen graduated from the Polytechnic University, New York with a BS in industrial engineering and an MS in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. He continued his graduate studies in the US, the Netherlands and the UK in the fields of operational auditing, IT/IS and logistic strategy. A partner with BMC (Business Management Consultants), Özbilen is the company’s director for the Middle East, Africa and the Turkic Republics. He has held consultancy and senior executive positions at Andersen Consulting, Arthur Andersen, ARGE Danısmanlık and IBM Consulting Group.

Ferda
Ünsal

Feng Shui Expert

Biography

“Feng Shui teaches us the methods and the power to control certain forces inherent in the universe and nature.”

“The key to shaping your life as you want is within your power.”

Ferda Ünsal is an important practitioner of Feng Shui in Turkey, which is a well-known Far Eastern philosophy. Ünsal has proven that Feng Shui can be applied to many different areas of life. According to her, with Feng Shui we can achieve our dreams of building happy relations, reaching our expectations, living in opulence, being healthy and peaceful, and seeing our children be cheerful and successful.

“Feng Shui is an ancient Far Eastern discipline, which helps us to return to our true nature, to discover our inherent features and to prepare a suitable venue for us to improve these, so we can reap the maximum benefit from all the blessings life offers us. It presents us with methods for stimulating the cosmic energy of life that naturally exists all around us.

“Life is a road and Feng Shui is one of decisions that we will take on this road.”

Human beings are a part of nature and so seek a balance and harmony with nature in their environment. The lack of harmony between humans and the environment adversely affects our life. The discipline of Feng Shui has a five thousand year old history. It is a method of arranging life spaces that create harmony for human beings’ existential features. In this way, we can live more healthily, build happier relations, improve ourselves, achieve our career expectations and increase our revenue.

“2008 will be a bad year” she said, and bad it was!

According to Feng Shui philosophy, 2008 was “the year of the rat”, which proved to be a tough year. Ünsal said 2008 would be characterized by challenges much before finance professionals did. Noting that, according to the teachings of Feng Shui, life repeats itself at certain intervals, Ünsal’s predictions for 2008 were as follows: “it will be a year of plenty for the stock exchange, entertainment, mining and real estate sectors. But it will be a tough year for the marine, banking, transportation and construction industries. It will bring international and political turmoil to the world.”

Who is Ferda Ünsal?

After graduating from Bosphorus University she began her professional career as a textile agent in Canada. Her husband’s occupation mean they had to relocate and Ünsal set sail for the Far East in 1987. She lived in Malaysia for 11 years where she was introduced to the teachings of Feng Shui and realized their positive implications in her life, after which she began espousing Feng Shui as a lifestyle. She attended the Feng Shui Centre of Excellence in 1992 and complemented her studies with training programs at the Master Academy of Chinese Metaphysics. She established Feng Shui Dünyası (Feng Shui World) in 2000, through which she has provided consultancy services in countless homes, offices, hotels and shopping centres. She also launched Turkey’s first Feng Shui website.
